April 26, 2020 - Sunday Reflections

Good Morning on this Lord’s Day Morning.

May your day be filled with worship to the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is worthy of praise, glory and honor.
God has blessed us with another week for which we are grateful. Though life is a true gift of God and we experience blessings we also experience trouble and heartache.  With that in mind let us remember we have a Good Shepherd that never leaves or forsakes us.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28–29

Scripture Reading Psalm 66

Truth for Today / Hebrews 2:14

I am reminded again of reality of the truth found in Philippians 1:19-26

19“For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. 25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith, 26 that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.”

The song writer in the hymn “In Christ Alone” says this...
No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His hand Till He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord,
Fear Not. Why? Psalm 23 says, for Thou art with me. This is the reality in life and in death.
Fear Not. Why? Jesus said because I live you will live also.  John 14:19.

Fear Not. Why? To die is gain. Philippians 1:21
Fear Not. Why? To be with Christ is far better. Philippians 1:23

Living in fear takes the life out of our living. Likewise living in fear takes Christ, who is our life out of our living.  If He is replaced with fear our Christian life is crippled. Do not allow any circumstance, good or bad replace Christ and His power in your life. We really have only two choices in the virus fear of today. Let fear rule your life or rest in the promises of God and let Christ rule your life. Let fear be magnified or let Christ be magnified. How foolish to know Christ and live as though He doesn’t exist. He Lives! Let it be said of us as in Philippians 1:20...according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

Song

May God be magnified in all of our lives this week. God bless you.
